HHSA Women's Regatta
Saturday, June 17, 2023
Herring Bay, Maryland

Mark your calendars!  The date for the 2023 HHSA Women's Regatta has been set for June 17, 2023 and we can't wait to see you all out there.

The HHSA Women's Regatta is one of the only events on the Chesapeake Bay that is for just women sailors.  It's a wonderful one day, three race regatta with all women skippers and crew.  Get your team together, get registered and we will see you out there.

Thie event is for experienced and novice racers.  Our mission for the day is that everyone steps up and does something they haven't done before.  Maybe you've raced but never skippered, maybe you're a cruiser and haven't raced.  This day is for all of you!

This space is the hub for all information about the event as well as regatta prep events.  Need some crew? Email us!  Want some more information? Email us!  In the meantime, get out and find all your great women sailing friends and get your team together.

Any questions please email womenunderway@hhsa.org

I sail and race on 22' Catalina Capris with Pentagon Sailing Club.  I've got my ASA 101/103 and 3 seasons of experience.  I'd love to crew for anyone who needs help in the regatta!

Jib trim, possible foredeck.  Raced J30, foredeck for 8 yrs,  I like to think I can follow instruction well.

I have 4 seasons of racing experience, racing on a FARR 10/20 and a Hunter 34. Experienced with jibs and spinnakers. Looking to join a crew for the Regatta!

Paula Grenier 571-213-6853 grenpaul3@gmail.com I am the owner of Eclipse, a Caliber 35LRC. Have been sailing 16 years. Lots of experience cruising in the Chesapeake, New England, and Caribbean. I’ve been crew in the Women’s Regatta every year it has been held. Last year I was the skipper of Kaya, which was great fun. I’ve crewed from time to time in the Wednesday night races and have done the Gov Cup several times.  I can do just about any position: helm, mainsheet, grinding, rail meat! I’m a team player, and willing to do whatever is needed. I’ve been the timer for starts and enjoy helping out with tactics. I’m fit, agile, and pretty strong. I’m also a Registered Nurse, which can come in handy!  I really love the camaraderie of an all women crew and look forward to sharing the experience again this year.
Sarah Bova sbova24@gmail.com  I grew up sailing on Lake Erie and have been racing in Baltimore the past five years. I skipper a J22 for one design racing and crew on several other boats for PHRF racing. I have experience racing with both symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnakers. Happy to help in whichever role is needed.
Melinda Zimmerman  melbay22@gmail.com 410-286-0529 I'm interested in being considered as crew on one of the boats - I would classify myself as a novice racer but medium-skill level cruiser.  Sailed w/ Singles on Sailboats many times last summer and years ago sailed every weekend on the West River. Novice racer but very fit.
Suzanne Carter 443-803-6321 Looking for a boat for the Women's Regatta this year. I'd prefer a boat and crew that are racers. I have experience racing J22s & Sonars, skipper, spin trim, main & jib trim, cockpit, tactics, and foredeck, 2018 – present, weekly. I'm experienced on larger boats with spinnaker use, hoist, douse, trim (S2 9.1, Jeanneau Sunshine 36CB, Jeanneau 33i, Express 30). I've been told I'm good crew. I take instructions quite well, and I am willing to come for some practice sessions. I currently race weekly at the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore, at the BCYA Tuesday weekly races, and at NPSA Wed weekly races.
Melodi Pinnock 703-776-0041 melodilee@me.com

I’m ASA certified through 104, I took the class there at Herrington Harbor, with Captain Angie Wilson. I also took classes on the Potomac with SCOW on their Flying Scots.  I’ve raced in maybe 4 or 5 regattas on the Chesapeake (Leukemia Cup & CRAB Cup) all for fun with friends.

Amy Harris 301 717 2585 abhsails@gmail.com  J22, J24, J80, and J105 experienced racer

Raced 2021 and 2022 in the HHSA regatta in the Spin Class. I usually trim jib, and chute. Last year I was tactician on a J30 in Spin Class and we got second.

Tara Brannigan 917 301 5183 brannigan01@yahoo.com

I am a member of SCOW and DISC and have raced the past 2 seasons with DISC on Tuesdays on a J-22 and completed several Beer Can races and charity regattas in Annapolis on a Catalina 25. The year before that, I raced with SCOW on Flying Scots. In addition, I've raced on J-24s, Sonars and Melges 24 when I lived in NY (Manhattan Yacht Club, One 15 Brooklyn, Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay. I have completed my US Basic Keelboat, US Basic Cruising certifications as well as a Racing course at J-World Annapolis. I most prefer the jib and have some spinnaker experience but am willing and able to contribute wherever is needed. I am available for Wednesday night racing and other practices leading up to the Regatta.
